MMD was formed in Melbourne in 2010 when THOMAS KENT, a well-known poet and spoken word performer, decided to follow a lifelong-ambition of composing, playing and performing music. He soon found that physical disabilities limited his ability to play guitar and keyboard, so concentrated on composition.
MMD is defined as Thomas Kent and anyone who performs or records with him. MMD performs almost every style of music - Darkwave, Goth, Dance Music, Classical from all eras, breakcore, experimental Electronic, Rock and Popular Music, most of it alt/indie.
MMD first recorded with friends in the Çowper Sreet Jams'in 2010, with Kent, Nondas, and others, recorded by Sean. In 2011, Tom jammed live at the Exchange (now the Reverence) hotel, Footscray.
Tom also started arranging spoken word gigs.
In 2012 Tom started the koLABorAYshun series of gigs and first performed live as MMD. In 2013, MMD played the Newport Folk Festival, Sydney Fringe and Melbourne Fringe.
MMD is committed to internet freedom and will make most material available for free download. I believe that if you are to pay for phsyical product, it must be a product that you are proud and happy to pay for and will do so voluntarily even if you can get the song for free. The quality on audio CDs is also higher, as compressing the songs into MP3 for download reduces quality.

MMD has six albums that are in the process of being made.
PICTURES AT A REQUIEM is a based on Mussorgsky's 'Pictures at an Exhibition', best known in the version orchestrated by Ravel. As with the original, the concept is that a viewer walks between various pictures, with 'promenades' alternating with pictures. In MMD's case, the pictures are those that might be displayed at the well-lnown Goth gig ' Requiem' in Melbourne. CD1 will consist of classical and structured electronic tracks. CD2 will be ambient. Progress so far: six tracks released.
CHARLIE'S CONVOLVER is spoken word prose-poetry over a wide range of electronic backgrounds. Four tracks are complete. A convolver is something that twists things.
OLD BOOKS AND MOVIES is an album of songs which are about old books and movies. Progress: three songs are being worked on.
I NEVER REALLY LIKED YOU ANYWAY is weird electronic songs. Progress: three songs complete.
SONGS MY MOTHER TAUGHT ME is an album of breakcore and horror, mostly instrumental. Three songs complete.
MAINSTREAM ALBUM is an album of music with broader appeal. It could be called country rock. Fifteen songs in progress.
